Okay, Is it me or did this week fly by?

Thursday and Friday I had the opportunity to go to the Willowcreek Summit Conference. It was awesome. Once again Bill Hybels, reminded us that Vision Leaks. So not to get frustrated when one of the people at Word of Faith can not remember where we are going. We got to hear some Axioms and while I was there and I thought of one right off the bat…There is no such thing as common sense.

Craig Grosechel talked about having IT…..I felt so (can’t even think of a word) that all I could do is just reflect on what he said.   So may prayer for God right now is God show me if i have IT and if i don’t help me get IT.

Pastor Lyons, Pastor Jamila and I left feeling renewed and refilled at the many possibilities that we have in front of us and plan on showing it to the leaders when it is released 10/06/08. Such an awesome experience for Christians and business leaders alike.

So now we move on, We are preparing the hearts and minds of the people to minister to the people in our church neighborhood. We are having a block party!! It is going to be so much fun!! More info to come….

Sleepover Madness

Ahhhh,

The sleepover for Aaron’s birthday party was last night. We had sooo much fun. They played in the water sprinkler, ate hotdogs, ate cupcakes, them we did a bead craft where we made sports necklaces and anklets and bracelets. Let’s pause here for a minute because believe it or not the boys were more interested in doing this craft than the girls were. The boys were engaged for a full 60 minutes while 30 minutes in the girls were done and off to find something more interesting to do. Next, we are outside playing flashlight tag and roasting marshmallows. we took a neighborhood walk where camp counselor Zakiyah proceeded to get us lost at 11:30p but we eventually found our way back home. Everyone of the children were excited at the opportunity to lay in their sleeping bag and of course we had popcorn and watched a movie. This morning we ate breakfast ( french toast and bacon), decorated visors and each guest was sent home with a sizeable bag of Monkey Munch ( I will post this recipe later).

We had alot of fun and glad that we were able to offer this opportunity this year verses just talking Aaron to his favorite place to eat On his birthday ( which I am still going to do)

I find myself learning new ways to be the mother that he needs not the mother that I had. It’s exciting and I am looking forward to more exciting things to come.

Kung Fu Panda Stuff

Let’s me just start by saying that I was determined to get something done, so I put the kids in the backyard with some toys and balls.  What I found is that the little kids went on an adventure and just started doing stuff, It was Aaron who decided that he was bored after being outside 30 minutes. Add bubbles to this and you get good wholesome fun. Otis was covered from head to toe in bubbles. Gabrielle too.

Fast Foward….

after I get everybody cleaned up and they at least took a little bit of a nap, we go to the movies, which almost wouldn’t have happened if it wouldn’t have been for my husband.  We saw Kung Fu Panda, way funnier than Hoodwinked. Story line was great and it was a movie you wanted to follow from beginning to end and not get bored. Otis and Gabrielle started fighting over a drink toward the end but overall great family fun.

Party Planning

It’s that time of year. My birthday, the kids birthday, and at the end of the year my husband. So let’s get started….

My Birthday

So I have asked for a whole weekend of excitement, fine dining, and sleep. Hey, 26 is the new 25.

Gabrielle and Otis Jr.

Gabrielle is insistent on having a PINK party. She stated that she had to have pink hats, pink plates, pink napkins, pink, pink, pink…When I told her that she would be sharing a party with Otis Jr. (brother). She stated that brother had to have an orange party. Wow, pink and orange….I have an interesting birthday challenge ahead of me. In addition to that, Aaron showed Gabrielle swimming pools in the K-mart add this week, and every since. She wants to go to the “wimming pool” and have a “wimming party”. Yep, I have a lot to plan.

Aaron

Hmmmm….What to do?  Skating party? bowling party? Chuck E. Cheese? Pump it up? We will see.

Joseph

It will be his first birthday in October…by this time I will probably be burnt out. Sounds like family dinner.

My Husband

Will be the big 3-0. Oh yeah, I am throwing him a very BIG party. I’ll stop right there.

Fun…Happy planning

:)

Bargain Tuesday

Otis and I went to the movies late last night on a date. We had budgeted for “Bargain Tuesday” which used to be $5.00 (2 weeks ago), is now $6.00. My husband tries to bargain with the lady cause he planned on spending $10 to take me to the movies. The cost of a movie has now raised to $10.25 and all of a sudden it hit me….it’s cheaper to buy the DVD. Wow, I mean really it would cost me $30.75 to take everybody to the movies. We haven’t even got snacks yet….

…..So after I get over the cost of the movies, We settle down to watch “Meet the Browns”. The character Brown is almost funnier than Madea, but a movie would not have been as funny without Madea and Brown. If you ever watch the trailer for this movie you would die laughing cause they show most of the funny parts in the trailer but you gotta watch the entire movie. BTW, Rick Fox sounds like a muppet….which took away from his appeal as being the right guy. They should have got the black guy with the goatee from the original Law & Order, he would have been perfect….and he probably could have learned to play basket ball too.

Well, let just end by saying that unless we go the Dollar saver movies which will probably be raised to $4 we are going to just view all our movies at home now….Maybe with our economic stimulus money we will buy and AppleTV. Yeah, we will be doing movies at home from now on and just going for it…..red vines, popcorn, pretzels, takeout, pizza, nachos, the whole 10-4. Movies are so expensive. WOW.

Aren’t you Ready for Summer?

It’s April and as I was thinking about what I was going to post, I also found myself wondering what me and the kids were going to do this summer. There is so much to do and I don’t want to spend every pay check on the kids fun activities. especially because I have little kids and they don’t care if we got out into the backyard and have a mud fight in the flower box. The youngest thinks that fighting his way out of a cardboard box is fun. But it lead me to thinking about how I used to spend my summer as a child, how I wanted to spend my summer, and In turn How I want my kids to spend the summer. We will probably end up going to the water park every other day cause that is free and they have a playset. Maybe we will only take one big field trip a week. Hmmm…..that ’s definetely something to think about…. All of this leads me to my question….What did you like to do in the summer when you were a child? What would you like your children to do? Sound off I am interested in hearing all the good activities and ideas for activities for my children to do.

Weekend Wrap-up

Finding Nemo was fun. It’s was ridiculous how expensive the food, toys, and everything else was. Can you believe that they were charging $10 for a bag of Cotton candy that I could get at the Wal-Mart for $1.59. I felt violated, just violated. We ended up at Larosa’s where the service was to the least less the great. Fast-Forward to Saturday evening when Cice, Shawonda and I ended up with a flat tire on 35, on our way to the Greene, kareoke in the Wal-Mart and perspective in the silence. I ended the weekend with the start of my “small group”. I left McDonald’s feeling good about what God had in store for me and my friends.
